Northaven, Memphis

Northaven is an unincorporated community located in north Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, that is a part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Tennessee State Route 388 connects Northaven with Frayser and Shelby Forest. This is also the location of the famous 1994 Tony von Carruthers case where he shot his mother, her teenage associate and his drug dealer. [1] The neighborhood is known for crime and blight.[2][3] The Mississippi River Trail runs through the neighborhood.[citation needed]

Geography[]

Northaven boundaries are the Mississippi River in the west, Millington and Memphis in the north, Raleigh in the east, the Wolf River and Frayser in the south.

Annexation[]

Northaven sits on the north border of the city of Memphis and its annexation reserve, meaning that Memphis can annex it at some point.

Education[]

Northaven Elementary School, which is part of the Shelby County School System serves the community.[4]
