Omar López

Omar E. López (born January 3, 1977) is a Venezuelan professional baseball player and coach. He is the third base coach for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball.

López is from Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela. He played in Minor League Baseball for the Chicago White Sox organization in 1996 and 1997 and for the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 1998. He then joined the Astros organization as a scout in 1999, and worked in that role through 2007. He became a manager in Minor League Baseball in 2007.[1] He managed the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League in 2018 and 2019. The Astros promoted him to their major league coaching staff as their first base coach before the 2020 season.[2]
