Scott Edward Twine (born 14 July 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League One club Milton Keynes Dons.

Club career[]

Swindon Town[]

On 9 March 2017, Twine signed his first professional deal with Swindon Town along with team-mates Tommy Ouldridge and Jordan Simpson.[2] After appearing on the bench several times, Twine finally made his Swindon debut on the final day of the 2016–17 campaign. Replacing Islam Feruz in the 69th minute during Swindon's 3–0 away defeat against Charlton Athletic.[3]

On 8 September 2017, Twine joined National League South side Chippenham Town on a three-month loan deal.[4] A day later, he made his debut during their 3–0 away defeat against Dartford, featuring for the full 90 minutes.[5] On 23 September 2017, Twine netted twice in Chippenham's 5–1 home victory over Hemel Hempstead Town.[6] Twine returned to Swindon in December 2017, following the conclusion of his loan spell. On 29 January 2018, Twine returned to Chippenham on loan for the remainder of the campaign.[7] Following his return, Twine featured five more times before being recalled by parent club, Swindon in March.[8]

On 10 April 2018, Twine made his first appearance under new manager, Phil Brown in Swindon's 2–2 home draw with Yeovil Town, starting the game before being replaced by Timi Elšnik in the 87th minute.[9] At the end of the 2017–18 season, Swindon exercised an option to extend his contract.[10]

On 13 February 2019, Twine joined League of Ireland Premier Division club Waterford on loan.[11][12]

On 3 September 2020, Twine joined League Two side Newport County on a season-long loan deal.[13] He made his debut for Newport on 5 September 2020 in the 2–0 EFL Cup win against Swansea City.[14] He scored his first goal for Newport on 15 September 2020 in the 1–0 EFL Cup round two win against Cambridge United.[15] The goal was selected as the October 2020 EFL League Two Goal of The Month.[16] On 5 January 2021 Swindon Town recalled Twine from his loan spell at Newport.[17] He was later named Newport County's Young Player of the Season at the club's end of season awards.[18]

Twine scored a 30 yard goal in his first game back at Swindon in a 3-2 win at Ipswich Town on 9 January 2021 which gave him his first Man Of The Match of 2021.[19]

On 14 May 2021 it was announced that he had been offered a new contract.[20]

Milton Keynes Dons[]

On 8 June 2021, it was announced that Twine would be joining League One side Milton Keynes Dons upon the expiration of his Swindon contract on 30 June 2021, signing a long-term contract. As an out-of-contract player under the age of 24, Swindon would be subject to a compensation fee.[21] He scored his first goal for the club, from a free kick, on his league debut in a 3–3 draw away to Bolton Wanderers on 7 August 2021.[22]

On 28 September 2021, Twine scored his first career hat-trick in a 3–3 draw at home to Fleetwood Town, with the second goal coming from outside the penalty area and the third goal scored directly from a free kick.[23] On 10 December 2021, Twine was named EFL League One Player of the Month for November 2021 following three goals and four assists in just four appearances.[24]
