The Scottish Women's Football League Second Division was the fourth and lowest tier of the women's football league pyramid in Scotland between 2002 and 2019. It contained forty clubs divided into four regional divisions: North, Central, East and West.[1] The champions of each division were eligible to enter play-offs for promotion to the Scottish Women's Football League First Division.[2]
In 2019, the lower leagues were reorganised with a new Scottish Women's Football Championship introduced at the third level, though following the existing First Division format of North and South regions. Below this, the Scottish Women's Football League name was retained, now covering a standalone 'Recreational' setup, again resembling the existing Second Division structure with three regional groups, but now with no promotion or relegation to higher levels; as such, the First and Second Divisions ceased to exist.[3][4]
