History[]

Setanta College was founded by Dr. Liam Hennessy BA, MSc, PhD, FRAMI,[7] a former international Pole Vault competitor and record holder.[8] Dr. Hennessy, is an Exercise Physiologist and strength and conditioning coach who is also published in scientific journals[9][10] and has worked with some top athletes and sports teams, including leading European soccer club teams in Italy,[11] and Germany,[12][13] the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU),[13] the Irish Olympic Team,[14][15] Tipperary GAA,[14] and as Fitness coach to three time major golfer Pádraig Harrington.[16] Through his own work, Dr. Hennessy noticed a need for better qualified experts in the area of strength and conditioning, and for that reason, he designed a course that would concentrate on this area of expertise.

2019 seen Setanta College enter a partnership with Irish American University meaning the Master's programmes are accredited regionally by IAU.[17]

Other courses[]

Setanta College has designed and operates/ facilitates courses for the Irish National Teachers' Organisation and World Rugby.[18] In addition to these courses, Setanta College has delivered education programmes to coaches at the National Cricket Academy of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)[19] and to other major sporting organisations such as Saracens Rugby and Arsenal F.C..
