Shamsi (Arabic: شمسی) is a family name in Middle East, South Asia and North Africa

Etymology[]

The word Shamsi means of sun or solar. Shams means Sun and Shamsi means Sunny.

Shamsi Family[]

According to their tradition, they belonged to the communities in Pakistan, India and Syria were converted to Islam by Sufi saints Shamsuddin Sabzwari and Shahjamal Shamsul Arifeen(Aligarh). They often use the surname Shamsi (a disciple of Shams), in his honor. Old Delhi, Balimaran , Okhla are place in New delhi and Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad , Nagina , Najibabad, Dhampur, Agra, Seohara are the Cities of Uttar Pradesh in India where the Shamsi community lives.
