Sidharth Sriram (born 19 May 1990[1]), popularly known as Sid Sriram is an Indian-American music producer, playback singer, and songwriter. He is an R&B songwriter[2] and works predominantly in the Tamil and Telugu music industry while also working in a few Kannada, Malayalam film productions.[3] He regularly collaborates with Bharata Natyam dancer, his sister Pallavi Sriram, and music directors.[4]

Early life[]

Sid Sriram was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India to Tamil family. He moved with his parents to California when he was a year old, and he grew up in Fremont. His musical skills were nurtured by his mother, Latha Sriram, a carnatic music teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area.[5] He simultaneously started picking up R&B. After graduating from Mission San Jose High School.In 2008, he joined the Berklee College of Music and graduated in music production and engineering.[6] Since his graduation, he has been regularly visiting India and performing carnatic concerts, including as a part of the December Music season - Marghazhi Utsavam. Since then, he has moved back to India and currently lives in the town of Mylapore.[7]

Career[]

He gained popularity in India with the song Adiye sung for the soundtrack of Kadal (2013) composed by A. R. Rahman.[8] He won the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for his rendition of Ennodu Nee Irunthaal for the soundtrack of I (2015).[9]

Thalli Pogathey in Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada,[10] Vellipomaake in Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo, Maruvaarthai in Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Undiporaadhey in Husharu, Arerey Manasa in Falaknuma Das, Adiga Adiga in Ninnu Kori and Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale in Geetha Govindam, High On Love in Pyaar Prema Kaadhal , Ennadi Maayavi Nee in Vada Chennai , Ennodu Nee Irundhaal in I, Adiye from Kadal Maate Vinadhuga in Taxiwaala, Kadalalle in Dear Comrade, Parayuvaan from Ishq , Samajavaragamana in Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo , Visiri in Enai Noki Paayum Thota,[11] Maguva Maguva in Vakeel Saab, Naa Kanulu Yepudu of Rang De have all been notable songs. He also recently worked in some Malayalam songs like Uyire from Gauthamante Radham. He has even released a Single Album Po Po Yen which was composed by A.H.Kaashif. It was released on Valentines Day 2017 which is February 14 2017.

He would later making his foray into music composition, where he would compose for ace director Mani Ratnam's production, Vaanam Kottatum, which is directed by Mani's former assistant and director of Padaiveeran, Dhana Sekharan.[12]
