Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC is a University Technical College that opened in September 2017 in Pimlico, London.[3] The College specialises in science, technology, engineering and mathematics for 14–19 year olds.

The University Technical College offers academic and technical qualifications in maths, science or engineering, for students interested in careers in the transport and built environment industries.[4] It is supported by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation and the University of Westminster.

The UTC sponsors are the University of Westminster, City of Westminster College, Network Rail, Landsec, Sir Robert McAlpine, Alstom, BT Fleet, Colas Rail and Transport for London.

The UTC is named after Sir Simon Milton, former leader of Westminster City Council and Deputy Mayor to Boris Johnson.

Description[]

It was built on the assumption that it would attract 550 students. By May 2021 it was over two-thirds empty. Andrew Christie, the chair of the governors announced it would not take any new students in September 2021, which would result in its closure. The UTC was still in its period of exemption from inspection, so no Ofsted report has been published. [5]

UTCs are funded directly by the DFE, and the costs filter out years after a project is started. The school cost £15,739,942, £30,297 of which was spent on acquiring the site.[6] The site is adjacent to and the rail lines running into Victoria.
