Sophia Theodora Marianne "Sophie" Hermans (born 1 May 1981 in Nijmegen) is a Dutch politician, since 23 March 2017 representing the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie) in the House of Representatives.[1] She is the daughter of former politician Loek Hermans. She previously served as an assistant to Prime Minister Mark Rutte.[2] She opposed government efforts to ban laughing gas, comparing it to “shooting a mosquito with a cannon”.[3]
