The Southern League Manager of the Year Award was an annual award given to the best manager in Minor League Baseball's Southern League (SL) based on their team's regular season performance. The award was created in 1972,[1] eight years after the league was established in 1964.[2] The final award was issued in 2019. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic,[3] and the league ceased operations before the 2021 season in conjunction with Major League Baseball's reorganization of Minor League Baseball.[4] The only managers with more than one win are Andy Green and John Shoemaker, each with two awards. Green won in consecutive years (2013 and 2014).

Seven managers from the Jacksonville Suns/Expos were selected for the Manager of the Year Award, more than any other team in the league, followed by the Birmingham Barons and Orlando Twins/Sun Rays/Cubs (5); the Chattanooga Lookouts, Greenville Braves, Huntsville Stars, Knoxville Sox/Blue Jays/Tennessee Smokies, and Mobile BayBears (4); the Columbus Astros and West Tenn Diamond Jaxx/Jackson Generals (3); the Biloxi Shuckers and Montgomery Biscuits (2); and the Mississippi Braves, Montgomery Rebels, Nashville Sounds, and Savannah Braves (1).

Six managers each from the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball (MLB) organizations won the Manager of the Year Award, more than any others, followed by the Minnesota Twins organization (5); the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers organizations (4); the Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros, Montreal Expos, and Oakland Athletics organizations (3); the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Tampa Bay Rays organizations (2); and the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations (1).
