Subang is a township located in Petaling District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is home to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Skypark), the former international airport of Kuala Lumpur. The airport now serves domestic flights, as well as cargo and private aviation.

Geography[]

Subang town falls within the Sungai Buloh constituency. Clockwise from west to east, it is surrounded by Bukit Jelutong (Shah Alam), Kapar, Sungai Buloh, Kota Damansara, Ara Damansara and Kelana Jaya.

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are headquartered in the Malaysia Airlines facility on the grounds of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.[1][2] In addition Berjaya Air and Transmile Air Services have their head offices on the airport property.[3][4] Subang Perdana Business Centre is the nearest business hub to Skypark Terminal, formally known Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

The Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur is located on the grounds of the Saujana Golf and Country Club in Subang.[5]

Weather[]

Subang is considered as the most thunderous place in Malaysia.[1] According to Malaysian Meteorological Department:-

  • Subang had the highest number of days with lightning in a year with 362 days in 1987.
  • Subang has the highest mean annual number of days with thunderstorm with 262 days.
  • Subang had the highest number of days with thunderstorms in a year with 269 days in 1969.

Subang is well-connected to the cities of Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and the townships of Petaling Jaya such as Bandar Sunway, Ara Damansara, Kota Damansara, Bandar Utama, Damansara Utama and Mutiara Damansara via a network of major highways, namely the Federal Highway, the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), the North–South Expressway Central Link, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Highway and the Damansara–Puchong Expressway.
