Mario Teodoro "Ted" Failon Etong (born March 29, 1962) is a Filipino radio broadcast journalist, disc jockey, television news anchor, and former politician. He currently anchors Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo5 on Radyo5 92.3 News FM. He also served as a representative of the 1st district of Leyte from 2001 to 2004.

A broadcast journalist previously for ABS-CBN, he previously presented news for Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siyete alongside Noli de Castro, and on his own program Failon Ngayon sa TeleRadyo. He also presented Hoy Gising!, the nightly news program TV Patrol from 2004 to 2020, and his own investigative program Failon Ngayon on television.

In 2009, Failon was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife.[1] In 2017, he was arrested and charged with libel.[2]

On August 30, 2020, ABS-CBN management confirmed that Failon decided to part ways with the network. He made his final appearance on TV Patrol and Failon Ngayon sa TeleRadyo on August 31 and was later replaced by Henry Omaga-Diaz.[3][4][5]

Currently, he is a commentator and a disc jockey (a nod back to his roots as a former DJ for DWGV 99.1 in Pampanga) on the program Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo5 for Radyo5 92.3 News FM along with DJ Chacha.

Personal life[]

On March 30, 2021, Failon announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and is asymptomatic. After a co-worker also tested positive on the evening of March 28 and identified him as a close contact, he self-isolated immediately and had himself tested on the morning of March 29.[6][7] Failon went into home quarantine and later recovered from the disease.[8]
