Three Pines is an upcoming British-Canadian mystery streaming television series starring Alfred Molina, based on the Chief Inspector Gamache novel series by Louise Penny centred on Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.[1]
Premise[]
Chief Inspector Armand Gamache sees things that others do not: the light between the cracks, the mythic in the mundane, and the evil in the seemingly ordinary. Upon investigating a series of murders in Three Pines, a seemingly idyllic village in the Eastern Townships, he discovers long-buried secrets and must face ghosts of his own.

Production[]
On May 21, 2020, it was announced that Left Bank Pictures had optioned the novel series Still Life by Louise Penny which centered on Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, with Amazon Prime Video in final negotiations to order the project to series. Emilia di Girolamo was attached as head writer, and Sam Donovan was announced as the lead director, directing four episodes.[2] There were no further developments on the series until September 2, 2021, when it was announced that Alfred Molina was cast in the lead role of Gamache.[3] Rossif Sutherland, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Tantoo Cardinal, Clare Coulter, Sarah Booth, and Anna Tierney were also cast in main roles.[4] The series is set to consist of eight episodes of one hour in length.[5]
Principal photography began in early September 2021 and is scheduled to last until mid-December. Filming is set to take place over five five-week periods across Montreal and in rural Quebec.[3] In addition, filming will occur in the Eastern Townships, the region of Quebec where the novels take place and original author Penny resides.[6]
