UNC Lenoir Health Care is a not-for-profit hospital located in Kinston, North Carolina. The hospital is licensed for 150 beds and serves the residents of Lenoir, Greene and Jones counties. The hospital is staffed with over 100 physicians. The hospital offers inpatient, outpatient and preventive healthcare services. In addition, the hospital offers free educational health programs, seminars, and screenings. General services include general medical, surgical, obstetrical and gynecological care. Specialized services include cardiology, pulmonology, oncology, radiology, urology, and vascular surgery.[1] Orthopedic surgery and sports medicine services has been almost eliminated since UNC Health Care has taken over management.

In 1986, the Lenoir Memorial Foundation was established to provide an avenue for making special gifts in honor or memory of friends and loved ones. Donations are used to purchase major equipment and to sponsor public health awareness programs. The Foundation operates fund-raisers such as the Cradle Crowd, Charity Golf Tournament, and the Holiday Benefit Reception.[2] The New Lenoir Memorial Hospital by Mike Kohler from 200 years of Progress. In 1965 it became apparent that the old Lenoir Memorial Hospital was outdated and too small to serve the growing community of Kinston and Lenoir County. Little space was available for expansion and renovation and expansion was deemed unsatisfactory. After more than eight years of planning a new modern $11 million facility on the Airport Road became a reality when it opened its doors in June 1973. It was built under a long-range planning program and can be expected to accommodate 435 patients. Under the leadership of L. Dan Duval, hospital director, over 700 people are employed to care for patients.
