Vega flight VV11 was the launch of the Mohammed VI-A satellite by the 11th Vega launcher.[1]

Payload[]

The payload, composed of the Mohammed VI-A satellite, its adapter, and its dispenser, was approximately 1,190 kilograms (2,620 lb) in total mass.[2]

Mohammed VI-A is a dual-use high-resolution electro-optical Earth observation satellite for the Kingdom of Morocco. It had a launch mass of 1,110 kilograms (2,450 lb). It was deployed 55 minutes and 33 seconds after launch into an undisclosed sun-synchronous orbit,[3] later known from its orbital elements to have a mean local time of the ascending node of 10:30 and an altitude of roughly 640 km.[4]

It was the 64th Earth observation satellite launched by Arianespace.[2]

Mohammed VI-A was joined in orbit a year later by Mohammed VI-B, launched by Vega flight VV13.

Flight[]

The launch occurred from the ELV launch pad at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, on 8 November 2017 at 01:42:31 UTC (7 November 2017 at 22:42:31 local time). It was the 293rd Arianespace mission (the 10th in 2017), and the 11th successful Vega launch (the 3rd in 2017).[2]
