"Vida minha" (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈviðɐ ˈmiɲɐ]; English: Life of mine) is a song by performed by Portuguese singer Filipa Sousa. It represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.[1] It failed to reach the final on 26 May.

Eurovision Song Contest[]

Twelve acts contested Portuguese national final Festival da Canção. In the end Filipa Sousa won the right to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Vida minha". The winner was decided via a 50%-50% professional jury and televoting. Filipa won both the jury and public vote. RTP devoted the festival to fado that marked the accession of traditional Portuguese music to UNESCO’s Oral and Intangible World Heritage list.[2]

The song performed in the second semi-final and failed to progress to the grand final, finishing in 13th place.

Composition[]

"Vida minha" is penned by Carlos Coelho and produced by Andrej Babić who created the 2008 Portuguese entry "Senhora do mar (Negras águas)".[3] "Vida minha" is a traditional folk song with elements of fado music. The lyrics are in Portuguese language.[4]
