WEVR-FM (106.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a soft adult contemporary music format[1] licensed to River Falls, Wisconsin, United States. The station is currently owned by Hanten Broadcasting Company.[2]

History[]

WEVR-FM went on the air September 30, 1970, a year after WEVR AM debuted.[3]

The station programs a soft adult contemporary format, along with local sports coverage, news, and farm updates. It is also an affiliate of the Wisconsin Badgers football, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers radio networks, with WEVR AM airing games that conflict.

The station had previously provided "Time For Trade", an old-style call-in radio show featuring local items for sale by owner and broadcast live by host Fred Benson. Benson was also the former owner of 104-year-old Lund's Hardware, and also offered small engine repair/seasonal tune-up tips by repairman J.Fizz. Fizz's segments became so popular with listeners, the station debated wherever or not to offer J.Fizz a show of his own. However, he had no interest other than the current segment. The show included "Trading or For Sale Items including a deal of the day". Each "Time for Trade" episode ended with a thought of the day quote by Fred Benson.

WEVR-FM's slogan, "Your Good Neighbor in the Friendly Valley" was first played on June 2, 1971, and it continues to this day, making it one of the oldest stations in Western Wisconsin still independently owned & operated.
