Washington's 42nd legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature.

The current state senator is Simon Sefzik, who was appointed to the position by the Whatcom County Council[1] after the previous state senator for the district, Doug Ericksen, died of COVID-19 on December 17, 2021.[2]

The district's state representatives are Alicia Rule (D; position 1), and Sharon Shewmake (D; position 2).
