"Yoru ni Kakeru" (夜に駆ける, lit. "Racing into the Night") is the debut single recorded by Japanese music duo Yoasobi. It was released on December 15, 2019, and was based on Thanatos no Yūwaku (タナトスの誘惑, "An Invitation from Thanatos"), a short story written by Mayo Hoshino (星野舞夜) published on the story hosting site Monogatary.[1]
The English version of "Yoru ni Kakeru", titled "Into the Night" was released on July 2, 2021, the same day with their tenth single "Sangenshoku" and the stand-alone single version of "Encore". It was translated by Konnie Aoki.[2]
Reception[]
The song's music video was published on Ayase's YouTube channel on November 16, 2019 and its view count surpassed 20 million in 7 months.[3] Soon after its release, the song topped the popularity charts on Spotify and Line Music.[3][4][5] On June 1, 2020, the song also topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100.[6]
