The 1980 San Francisco State Gators football team represented San Francisco State University during the 1980 NCAA Division II football season.

San Francisco State competed in the Far Western Conference (FWC).[note 1] The Gators were led by head coach Vic Rowen in his 20th year at the helm. They played home games at Cox Stadium in San Francisco, California. The team finished the season with a record of three wins, six losses and one tie (3–6–1, 2–3 FWC). For the season the team was outscored by its opponents 169–201.
