The 2012–13 Calcutta Premier Division season is the 114th season of the Calcutta Premier Division, a state league within the Indian state of West Bengal. The league kicked off on 16 August 2012.
On 11 June 2012 it was announced that the Indian Football Association would change the format of the Calcutta Premier Division for 2012–13.[1] For starters they decided to increase the number of teams from 17 to 19.[1] Second they decided to divide those teams into two groups, Group A with 10 teams and Group B with 9 teams.[1] Also the federation decided to split the big four clubs of Kolkata (East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Prayag United, and Mohammedan) into the two groups.[1] The IFA also decided that each team plays each other twice before five teams from Group A and four teams from Group B move on to the Final Round while the remaining 10 teams fight in a relegation league and the bottom team relegated.[1] The points from the first round would not be carried to the Final Round.[1] The IFA also decided the disband the rule which forced clubs to field one under 19 player due to the formation of the Calcutta Premier U19 League.[1]
