Al-Tabligh Verse

The Al-Tablīgh verse (Arabic: آیة التَّبليغ, propagation/proclamation verse) is the 67th verse of Surat Al-Ma'ida. Shi'a believe that the subject of the message of the verse was the succession of the Prophet by 'Ali.

The Event of Ghadīr (Arabic: واقعة الغدير), according to Shi'a beliefs, on his return from Hajjat al-Wida', the Prophet (s) introduced Imam Ali as his Khalifah (successor) after himself at a place called Ghadir Khumm.[1]

Text and translation[]

O, Messenger! Proclaim that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not you will not have proclaimed His message and Allah shall protect you from people, indeed Allah do not guide the faithless lot.[2]
