Besednice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈbɛsɛɟɲɪtsɛ]) is a market town in Český Krumlov District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 800 inhabitants.

Besednice lies approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) east of Český Krumlov, 22 km (14 mi) south of České Budějovice, and 145 km (90 mi) south of Prague.

Administrative parts[]

The village of Malče is an administrative part of Besednice.

Geography[]

The highest point in the municipal territory is the mountain Velký kámen with 753 metres (2,470 ft) above sea level.

The landscape around the Besednice is known as a site of the moldavites. It is protected as a nature monument Besednické vltavíny.[2]

Sights[]

On the square there are houses built in the Folk Baroque style, a typical vernicular architecture of the South Bohemian Region.
