Riccardo Fabbriconi (born 10 February 2003), known professionally as Blanco (commonly stylized in all caps as BLANCO), is an Italian singer and rapper.[1] In 2022, he won the Sanremo Music Festival 2022 alongside Mahmood with the song "Brividi", and will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.

Early life[]

Riccardo Fabbriconi was born in Brescia[2] on 10 February 2003, to a father from Rome and a mother from Lombardy, and raised in Calvagese della Riviera, a small town on lake Garda. He spent most of his childhood between his hometown, Brescia and Desenzano del Garda, where he attended school.[3]

Career[]

On 9 June 2020, he released his EP Quarantine Paranoid on SoundCloud.[4] After being signed by Universal, he debuted with the studio album Blu celeste on 10 September 2021, which peaked at number one of FIMI's album chart and was certified quadruple platinum.[5] His most successful song to date, "Mi fai impazzire" with Sfera Ebbasta, topped the Italian singles chart for eight weeks and was certified sextuple platinum in Italy.[6][7]

In February 2022, he won the Sanremo Music Festival 2022 alongside Mahmood with the song "Brividi".[8] They will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.[9]

Controversy[]

In December 2021, Italian rapper and producer Tha Supreme made a post on his Instagram account that accused one of his peers of copying his music (in pop version) and pretending to not know about him when asked in interviews.[10] Though he never stated Blanco's name directly, it was heavily implied that he was referring to Blanco.[11] The Instagram post was deleted a few days later.
