Bon-y-maen, sometimes spelt Bonymaen, (Welsh: Bôn-y-maen) is a community in Swansea, Wales located about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north east of Swansea city centre. It falls within the coterminous Bonymaen ward for elections to Swansea Council.

Bôn-y-maen is Welsh for 'Base of the stone' and there are legends that the same stone ends in Penmaen (English: Stone End) on the Gower Peninsula.

Overlooking Bon-y-maen on top of Kilvey Hill is the main TV transmitter for Swansea.

The local rugby team is Bonymaen RFC.

In 2017 over 200 new homes were planned for the ex-Morris Brothers bus works in Pentrechwyth (part of Bonymaen).^[2]

Bonymaen was a Communities First area.

Bon-y-maen Beast

Between 19 November 2018 and 3 January 2019 there were a number of reported sightings from woodland walkers, an off-road motorcyclist, a farm worker and a council employee of a large black cat ; some reports estimating the animal around the size of a large dog whereas most reports suggesting it was definitely a "Black Panther", not unlike the Beast of Bodmin . Most sightings were in and around the woodland areas of Kilvey Hill although there had been a reported sighting on a unadopted lane behind Bonymaen Park and on land behind Bonymaen Fish Bar. The sightings coincided with a number of minor animal attacks on farmland on Kilvey Hill, including two attacks on a herd of grazing heffers, a Welsh Pony bring kept on a small holding at the base of Kilvey Hill and on a farm dog called Lucky. Although the injured animals had all suffered deep scratches, injuries that treating vets had suggested were inflicted by a large dog or possibly badgers, all animals fully recovered. There had also been a number of small mammal remains found in the woodland by walkers, although these could equally be attributed to foxes which are common to the area, or dogs. On 3 January 2019 all sightings ceased of the "Bonymaen Beast".
