Iceland, also known as Cuba, is a former settlement in Nevada County, California, located between Boca and the Nevada state line.[2] The region is situated by the Truckee River,[3] 9 mi (14 km) from Truckee.

It had a post office during the period of 1897 to 1923,[4] and also a Southern Pacific Railroad station was established about 1902.[3][5]

Iceland got its name because of the ice that was cut and stored there.[6] Several main ice companies dominated the area. The Mountain Ice Company, the People's Ice Company, the Union Ice Company, and the Floriston Ice Company.[7]
