Polaris is an unincorporated community in Nevada County, California.^[1] It lies at an elevation of 5695 feet (1736 m).^[1] Polaris was established on the Central Pacific Railroad line in 1867,^[2] 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east-northeast of Truckee.^[3]

The Polaris post office operated from 1901 to 1923.^[3]
