Mohamed Ismail Ahmed Ismail (Arabic: محمد اسماعيل أحمد اسماعيل; born 7 July 1983), known as Ismail Ahmed (his patronymic), is an Emirati footballer who plays for United Arab Emirates national football team as a Defender. He is of Moroccan descent, but was naturalized as an Emirati citizen. He played 3 matches at 2010 AFC Champions League.[1][2][3] As of 2010 season, he wore no.5 shirt.
In 2008, he joined the UAE side from FUS de Rabat.
Personal life[]
Ismail Ahmed himself was born in Temara, Morocco, but moved to Yemen and Bahrain as a teenager to venture for his football passion. He was courted to play for Bahrain, but rejected the offer to return to Morocco in order to play for the Atlas Lions and big Moroccan clubs like Raja Casablanca so he could head to Europe, but fractured with an injury and languished behind the likes of new talents like Nordin Amrabat, Ayoub El Kaabi and Achraf Bencharki. He soon accepted the offer to join Al-Ain where he was granted citizenship and had to change his name in order to play for the UAE.[4]
