Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 17th district. The 17th district includes all or parts of Evanston, Glenview, Golf, Morton Grove, Northbrook, Skokie and Wilmette.[1]
Gong-Gershowitz, a Glenview resident, is an attorney. She is the second Chinese American to serve in the Illinois General Assembly after Theresa Mah.[2] Incumbent Representative Laura Fine was elected to the Illinois Senate in the 2018 Illinois Senate election. Accordingly, she resigned from the Illinois House of Representatives effective January 6, 2019. Gong-Gershowitz, the winner of the 2018 general election, was appointed by local Democratic leaders and sworn into office that same day.[3]
