Kurds in the Romania refers to people of Kurdish origin born or residing in Romania.
History[]
The Kurds are living in Romania since Ottoman times. However, most of them arrived after the fall of the Communism, mostly from the disputed territories of Kurdistan (Iraq, Turkey, Iran, and Syria), many of them fleeing oppression.[citation needed]
Demography[]
There are no official statistics for the Romanian Kurdish population. Sources claim that there are between 500[1] and 5,000[2] Kurds living in Romania. Most of them live in Bucharest and other large urban areas, but also the counties of Constanța and Tulcea.
