Lake Sarasota is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,679 at the 2010 census.[5] It is part of the North PortSarasotaBradenton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.5 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2), or 2.63%, is water.[5]

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 4,458 people, 1,530 households, and 1,222 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,258.2 people per square mile (1,256.4/km2). There were 1,586 housing units at an average density of 1,159.2/sq mi (447.0/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.16% White, 0.83% African American, 0.49% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.03% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.06% of the population.

There were 1,530 households, out of which 45.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.1% were non-families. 13.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.21.

In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 30.4% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $50,375, and the median income for a family was $51,600. Males had a median income of $38,033 versus $30,190 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $21,199. About 2.2% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.5% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
