Roberto Clemente, the all-time leader in games played as a right fielder

Games played (most often abbreviated as G or GP) is a statistic used in team sports to indicate the total number of games in which a player has participated (in any capacity); the statistic is generally applied irrespective of whatever portion of the game is contested. In baseball, the statistic applies also to players who, prior to a game, are included on a starting lineup card or are announced as ex ante substitutes, whether or not they play,[1] although, in Major League Baseball, the application of this statistic does not extend to consecutive games played streaks. A starting pitcher, then, may be credited with a game played even as he is not credited with a game started or an inning pitched.

A right fielder (RF) is the outfielder in baseball or softball who plays defense in right field. The right field is the area of the outfield to the right of a person standing at home plate and facing towards the pitcher's mound. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the right fielder is assigned the number 9.

Roberto Clemente[2][3][4] is all-time leader in games played as a right fielder with 2,305 games played in his career. Paul Waner[5] (2,250), Harry Hooper[6] (2,183), Hank Aaron[7] (2,174), Mel Ott[8] (2,161), Tony Gwynn[9] (2,144), Dwight Evans[10] (2,092), Nick Markakis[11] (2,074), Al Kaline[12] (2,031), and Sammy Sosa[13] (2,015) are the only other right fielders to play in over 2,000 games in their careers.
