Principal characters from Transformers: Energon.

The characters below are from the 2004 television anime Transformers: Energon, the second entry of the Unicron Saga:

Autobots[]

Optimus Prime (Grand Convoy)
Voiced by: Garry Chalk
Although peacetime had afforded Prime the opportunity to train his own elite squadron of Autobots, teaching the martial art of Kumite.[1] His vehicle mode's trailer houses the Prime Force, a team of drones...
  1. Fire 1: a fire truck
  2. Copter 2: a helicopter
  3. Digger 3: a drill tank
  4. Submarine 4: the Prime Force's water operations

...which he combines with to assume Super Mode. He can combine with Wing Saber to assume Sonic Wing Mode and Omega Supreme to form Optimus Supreme - while as Optimus Supreme, Prime and Omega Supreme can combine also with the Prime Force for extra power.

Jetfire
Voiced by: Scott McNeil
Jetfire can be relied on for consistency - he's much the same as he ever was, cracking wise on and off the battlefield, but unwaveringly serious in his duties despite any outward appearance to the contrary. He transforms into a spacecraft, and although he can no longer Powerlink with Optimus Prime, he now also possesses the Spark of Combination, allowing him to link up with other Transformers, most commonly Ironhide. During the battle against Unicron, Jetfire was evolved into a more powerful form by Primus (while both versions of the series continue to use his original names, the Japanese renamed the toy Skyfire Sonic or Skyfire S, while the Americans released it as a different character named Overcast).[citation needed]
Hot Shot
Voiced by: Brent Miller
After his first experience fighting Unicron in Transformers: Armada, Hot Shot matured into a mentor for Ironhide. He also looked up to Rodimus until he found out Rodimus was working for Alpha Q. He transforms into sports car, resembling Aston Martin Vanquish.
Inferno/Roadblock (Japanese name for Inferno's return form, Roadblock: Inferno Volt)
Voiced by: Michael Daingerfield
He works for Optimus Prime in knowledge-based work, such as acting in science or managing the space bridge system. Megatron later corrupted him on Iron Planet. After sacrificing his life to save Starscream from being destroyed by the Energon Sun where Unicron's head is, Inferno's spark was salvaged and he was reborn as Roadblock. He transforms into a fire truck as Inferno and into a crane truck as Roadblock.
Ironhide (Roadbuster)
Voiced by: Matt Hill
Ironhide is the new young bot on Team Prime who looks up to Hot Shot. He is eventually able to powerlink with Jetfire and has developed a relationship with Scorponok. Ironhide still wouldn't give up when Megatron brainwashed Scorponok. Ironhide even got his own team of Omnicons that Scorponok killed. He transforms into a modified Toyota Land Cruiser.
Rodimus (Rodimus Convoy ("Rodimus Convoy", in series such as , is the Japanese name of normally characters named "Rodimus Prime", but in this series, "Rodimus Prime" (Rodimus Convoy), in the Japanese version, is a used name that reflects the character's design being like that of characters named "Rodimus" or "Rodimus Prime" even though he is the leader of a smaller group of Autobots in this series and is not a full leader in general - the English version names him just "Rodimus" to show that he is an incomplete Autobot leader who is leading a separate Autobot group)
Voiced by: Paul Dobson
Rodimus is another Autobot leader with a different philosophy from Optimus, which puts the two at odds. Rodimus wanted to recreate Alpha Q's solar system at any cost, but after he learned it was a bad idea, he became Optimus Prime's right-hand. He transforms into a cybertronian race truck.
Prowl (Red Alert)
Voiced by: Alistair Abell
An Autobot who works for Rodimus. He transforms into a Cybertronian F1-style police car.
Landmine
Voiced by: Ward Perry
An Autobot who is on Rodimus' side. Landmine taught Optimus how to fight (as mentioned in Cybertron) before he joined Rodimus. He transforms into a Cybertronian half-track battlefield recovery vehicle - he is able to separate from a portion of his vehicle mode which goes on to transform into a special stationary attack mode while Landmine's robot mode is a basic-power-level appearance - Landmine can 'equip' himself with the stationary portion, transforming into what fans would call a 'Brute Mode' as this special extra mode which supplies extra power isn't named in the English version and named in Japanese as 'Super Mode'.
Wing Dagger/Wing Saber
Voiced by: Colin Murdock
An Autobot prison guard who was on duty when Shockblast escaped, and who attempted to recapture him with his partner Padlock only for Shockblast to murder his partner. Wing Dagger becomes determined to bring Shockblast to justice but is critically injured in a subsequent encounter; as a result, he was rebuilt into the larger, more powerful Wing Saber and given the ability to combine with Optimus Prime to give Prime a Sonic Wing Mode (Wing Convoy). He eventually defeats Shockblast in battle and then continues to fight alongside the Autobots through the remainder of the series. He transforms into a Cybertronian stealth bomber.
Bulkhead (Sprung - this Japanese name symbolizes that this character is designed in reference to characters like Springer who are from several universes)
Voiced by: French Tickner
Bulkhead is an elder who becomes a helicopter. He can combine with his vehicle mode's special weapon-supplying extension-purposed drone to assume his 'Brute Mode' (Bulkhead is the only Autobot out of himself and Landmine in which the English version names the armor-like transformation as 'Brute Mode' - fans use 'Brute Mode' to give Landmine's robot mode combination with his armor an English name). (Bulkhead's figure is recolored exclusively by the United States as a new character: Quickstrike - this repaint is not seen onscreen)
Cliffjumper (Overdrive)
Voiced by: Doron Bell
A part of Bulkhead's group. He transforms into a baja-styled dune buggy. Often in the English version, his name was swapped with Downshift for the first episodes of his and Downshift's appearances before this is rectified in their later appearances.
Downshift (Wheeljack - this Japanese name reflects his design being a reference to characters named "Wheeljack" from several universes)
Voiced by: Ty Olsson
A part of Bulkhead's group. He transforms into a sports car. Often in the English, his name was swapped with Cliffjumper for the first episodes of his and Cliffjumper's appearances before this is rectified in their later appearances.
Omega Supreme
Voiced by: Scott McNeil
Omega Supreme is an ancient who once fought and defeated Unicron before the events of Armada. He and Optimus can powerlink into Optimus Supreme (Omega Convoy). He transforms into a Cybertronian battleship, Cybertronian construction vehicle, Cybertronian crane platform, Cybertronian turret platform and a special single file line-up formation of both of his separate vehicle modes and his head transforms into the Minicon Omega. (Omega Supreme's figure is recolored by the United States as a toy-exclusive no-onscreen-appearance new character: Omega Sentinel)
Superion Maximus (Superion)
Voiced by: Paul Dobson
Superion Maximus is one of the 4 5-character combinations who guarded Super Energon, and the only one who joined Optimus instead of Megatron since Megatron destroyed his inert brother. His components are:
  • Storm Jet (Afterburner) (a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird spy plane who can form Superion Maximus' head and torso) - he is the leader of the components and is the single dominant consciousness of Superion Maximus
  • Sky Shadow (Sling) (a Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II who can form Superion Maximus' right leg)
  • Terradive (Skydive) (a Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II who can form Superion Maximus' left arm)
  • Treadshot (Airrider) (a Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor who can form Superion Maximus' right arm)
  • Windrazor (Sling) (a Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor who can form Superior Maximus' left leg)

Sky Shadow, Terradive, Treadshot and Windrazor were destroyed during his final battle with Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus - to this end, he steals Constructicon's arm and leg components to face Bruticus. (Superion Maximus's figure is later repainted for 2009's Revenge of the Fallen (this repaint does not appear onscreen in Revenge of the Fallen) and the Universe Classics 2.0 line as five different characters: Airazor (left arm), Fireflight (right arm), Skydive (left leg), Air Raid (right leg) and Silverbolt (leader) (torso, upper legs and head) and therefore an entirely different Superion)

Omnicons[]

The Omnicons were created to process raw Energon which other Transformers can't touch.

Arcee (Erial)
Voiced by: Sharon Alexander
A female Omnibot motorcycle who Kicker later employs the vehicle mode of as a mode of transportation.
Strongarm (Blastarm)
Voiced by: Scott McNeil
Member of the Omnicons. He transforms into a Cybertronian jeep and wields an Energon axe.
Signal Flare
Voiced by: Michael Dobson
Member of the Omnicons. He transforms into a half-track MASER tank and equips his left arm with a special extension that also becomes a hand-held Energon saw-blade.
Skyblast (Airglide)
Voiced by: Terry Klassen
Member of the Omnicons. He transforms into a Cybertronian jet whose wings' special Energon-formed add-on fins can equip onto Skyblast's firearm to transform the firearm into a bladed lance or staff.

Decepticons[]

Megatron/Galvatron (Grand Galvatron)
Voiced by: David Kaye
Megatron's skin became fused with Unicron's tissue forming a protective casing so he could make a new body from inside by siphoning Unicron's Energon, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. He became Galvatron again when he was exposed to Super Energon. He transforms into a Cybertronian fighter jet. Finally he is destroyed, rather than someone else or something else preserve his body a second time, during the events of the series' final episodes
Cyclonus (Sandstorm)/Snow Cat (Snowstorm)
Voiced by: Don Brown
Cyclonus was not pleased with working with the Autobots, so he was ecstatic when Alpha Q decided to revive the Decepticons. But he was forced to work for Megatron again, and later Megatron transforms him into the yodeling Snow Cat. He transforms into a helicopter before his transformation into Snow Cat gives him a snow vehicle.
Demolishor (Ironhide (for first body)/Irontread (for replacement body))
Voiced by: Alvin Sanders
Demolishor had loyalty issues after Armada to the Autobots and Decepticons. He officially returned to the Decepticons following Megatron's revival. But when his body was destroyed, Megatron brought him back as an ever-loyal idiot - Demolisher's new replacement body is a dump truck.
Starscream (Nightscream)
Voiced by: Michael Dobson
Alpha Q resurrected Starscream to assassinate Megatron and Optimus Prime, but the former mentally tortured him into becoming a Decepticon again. Starscream had no memories of Armada and was only half physical due to not being remade properly. He transforms into cybertronian fighter jet resembling Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.
Tidal Wave (Shockwave)/Mirage (Shockfleet)
Voiced by: Doug Parker
Tidal Wave was on put on the lunar base by the Autobots for him to protect lunar colony - his vehicle mode, during this time, is a battleship (the toy figure of Tidal Wave was a triple-changer - his third mode was his body splitting into three water vehicles but this third mode does not appear onscreen in Energon). He was later crushed by a Energon tower, after which, Megatron had him brought back to Unicron for him to be prepared. He then became Mirage where he now transforms into an electric speeder seacraft.
Shockblast (Laserwave)
Voiced by: Brian Drummond
Shockblast and Tidal Wave worked together in the past, something the latter was not happy about. Shockblast was snarky, ambitious, and triggerhappy. He even tried to control Unicron only to have his basic instincts twisted and his body enlarged. He was then crushed by Unicron's fist on Blizzard Planet. He transforms into a Cybertronian laser tank and a satellite cannon that also acts as a flying vehicle.
Six Shot
Voiced by: Terry Klassen
Shockblast's little brother who is willing to take advantage of anything to get his way. He isn't ferocious, like his brother, but formidable in his own right. (Six Shot is redecoed in color from Shockblast which means his alternative modes are the same as Shockblast's own)
Constructicon Maximus (Buildron - the English version retains the fact that this character's Japanese name is the Japanese version term for "Constructicon" by retaining this character's Japanese name and changing his name only with the addition of "Maximus")
Voiced by: Don Brown
Constructicon Maximus is one of the 4 5-character combinations who guarded Super Energon before siding with Megatron. His components are:
  • Steamhammer (Scavenger) (a steam shovel who forms Constructicon Maximus' head and torso) - he is the leader of the components and the dominant consciousness of Constructicon Maximus
  • Bonecrusher (a loader who forms Constructicon Maximus' left leg)
  • Duststorm (Longhaul) (a mobile crane who forms Constructicon Maximus' left arm)
  • Sledge (Scrapper) (a loader who forms Constructicon Maximus' right arm)
  • Wideload (Glen) (a mobile crane who can form Constructicon Maximus' right leg)

Both he and Bruticus Maximus were killed by Superion Maximus with Superion, following his arm and leg components' destruction, stealing Constructicon's arm and leg components when facing Bruticus.

Bruticus Maximus (Bruticus - this character's name in both of this series' English and Japanese versions is retained - the only English version change is the addition of "Maximus")
Voiced by: Trevor Devall
Bruticus Maximus is one of the 4 5-character combinations who guarded Super Energon before siding with Megatron. His components are:
  • Barricade (Onslaught - this is the first time in which a Combaticon (which this Decepticon's design's theme is) combiner team's leader is not named "Onslaught" in the English language of a universe or English-language series at all; the Japanese version is the only version of both Japanese and English to name the leader as Onslaught) (an eight-wheeled personnel carrier with a rear missile rack who forms Bruticus Maximus' head and torso) - he is the leader of the components and is the dominant consciousness of Bruticus Maximus
  • Blackout (Bolter) (a Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter who forms Bruticus Maximus' left arm)
  • Blight (Swindle) (an anti-aircraft tank who forms Bruticus Maximus' right arm)
  • Kickback (Brawl) (an anti-aircraft tank who forms Bruticus Maximus' left leg)
  • Stormcloud (Blastoff) (a Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter who forms Bruticus Maximus' right leg)

Both he and Constructicon Maximus were killed by Superion Maximus.

Terrorcons[]

The Terrorcons are Transformers from the Planet Q. When Alpha Q ended up inside Unicron, he used his powers to recreate the Terrorcons where the weaker members were used as foot soldiers. When Megatron was revived, he took control of most of the Terrorcon soldiers.

Scorponok (Mega Zarak)
Voiced by: Colin Murdock
Scorponok was Planet Q's prime minister until he gave up his life to detonate the planet inside Unicron. So Alpha Q revived him with the spark of a deceased, ancient Decepticon, whose programming was reawakened by Megatron when the Transformers ended up in a parallel universe. He has many kinds of relationships with Ironhide over the course of the anime. Scorponok's alternative modes are a scorpion-treaded vehicle hybrid for ground attack and a jet for transportation.
Battle Ravage/Command Ravage (Command Jaguar)
Cougar Terrorcons. The Command Ravages are a variation that act for stealth missions.
Divebomb/Blackout (Shadow Hawk)
Hawk Terrorcons. The Blackouts are a variation that act for stealth missions.
Cruellock (Dinobot)
A group of Terrorcons that transform into dinosaur-like creatures that have traits similar to Zilla.
Insecticon (Chromhone)
Rhinoceros beetle Terrorcons.

Humans[]

Jones family[]

Kicker
Voiced by: Brad Swaile
A teenage boy who was endowed years between the end of Armada and the beginning of this series by Primus with the ability to detect Energon at a young age. Ever since, Kicker suffers multiple neuroses as a result of his father exploiting his gift and using him like a tool in his Energon research. At first, Kicker resents the Transformers and didn't want to work with them because of this but soon comes around. He's briefly seen at the end of Cybertron - this is only during the end credits of Cybertron's finale.
Sally
Voiced by: Nicole Oliver
Kicker's feisty little sister.
Miranda
Voiced by: Nicole Oliver
Kicker and Sally's mother.
Dr. Brian Jones
Voiced by: Ron Halder
Kicker and Sally's scientist father who is an expert on Energon and often takes his son's power for granted.

Other humans[]

Misha Miramond
Voiced by: Ellen Kennedy
Kicker's scientist girlfriend who studies Energon.
Bradley "Rad" White
Voiced by: Kirby Morrow
One of the Autobots' friends from Armada who works with Dr. Jones and is the object of Sally's affections. He's briefly seen at the end of Cybertron.
Alexis Thi Dang
Voiced by: Tabitha St. Germain
One of the Autobots' friends from Armada who is now a government liaison between the humans and Transformers. She's briefly seen at the end of Cybertron.
Carlos Lopez
Voiced by: Matt Hill
One of the Autobots' friends from Armada who works on the Mars station. He's briefly seen at the end of Cybertron during Cybertron's final end credits.

Other characters[]

Alpha Quintesson
Voiced by: Trevor Devall
A mysterious factor who remade the Terrorcons to remake his solar system. Unicron later kills him when he grabs onto the Energon Sun where Unicron's head is.
Primus
Voiced by: Ron Halder
Cybertron's spark. His physical body is later seen in Cybertron when the planet begins assuming robot mode.
Unicron
Voiced by: Mark Acheson
Primus' evil brother who survived the end of Armada despite the combined efforts of the Autobots and Decepticons to destroy him near Armada's end, but it took blowing up a planet inside him to destroy him. Megatron and Alpha Q later rebuilt him for their own reasons, but Optimus Supreme later destroyed him for good. A piece of Unicron's mind, following his second, and this time permanent, destruction, combines with Megatron's mind, while Unicron's antispark floated somewhere in space. When Galvatron used Super Energon to supersize himself, Unicron controlled him remotely until Optimus Prime fused the piece of his mind with the combination spark. Galvatron then attempted to destroy the antispark, only to get possessed. He then threw himself into a protostar made of Super Energon, which turned it into a new sun for Alpha Q's planets. But in Cybertron, the sun turned into a black hole that wanted to eat the universe.
