Midnight Mass is an upcoming American supernatural horror streaming television series created and directed by Mike Flanagan for Netflix. The cast features Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel and Hamish Linklater. The series is centered around an isolated island community that experiences supernatural events after the arrival of a mysterious priest.[1] The series is scheduled to be released by Netflix on September 24, 2021.[2]
Synopsis[]
Midnight Mass tells the tale of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man (Zach Gilford) and the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). When Father Paul's appearance on Crockett Island coincides with unexplained and seemingly miraculous events, a renewed religious fervor takes hold of the community – but do these miracles come at a price?

Development[]
On July 1, 2019, Netflix announced a 7-episode horror web television series, with Mike Flanagan serving as writer, director and executive producer.[1][10] In February 2020, Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel and Hamish Linklater were announced as lead roles for the series.[11]
Production was originally scheduled to commence in March 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[12] Midnight Mass entered production on August 17, 2020, in Vancouver, Canada and concluded on December 15, 2020.[13][14][15][16]

Midnight Mass is scheduled to be released on Netflix on September 24, 2021.[2]
