Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia (from 1961 to 1992) and as part of Serbia and Montenegro (from 2004 to 2006).
Their song and performer were chosen on the 25 February 2007 through a national final called MontenegroSong 2007. The Montenegrin public chose Stevan Faddy and the song "'Ajde, kroči" to represent the nation as its first entry.[1] In the competition, ten songs competed with the winner being selected by televoting only.
MontenegroSong 2007 was the national final organised by RTCG in order to select Montenegro's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. Ten entries competed in a televised final on 25 February 2007, which was held at the RTCG studios in Podgorica and hosted by Dražen Bauković and Olivera Simunović. The show was televised on TVCG 1 as well as broadcast online via the broadcaster's website rtcg.org.
Competing entries[]
Artists and songwriters were able to submit their entries between 13 January 2007 and 9 February 2007. All artists and composers were required to have Montenegrin nationality or citizenship to be eligible to submit entries and songs were required to be in the Montenegrin language.[2] At the closing of the deadline, RTCG received 16 entries. A selection jury consisting of KIC "Budo Tomović" music editor Maja Popović, composer Slobodan Kovačević and RTCG music editor Vesna Ivanović evaluated the received submissions and selected ten entries for the national final.[3][4] The selected artists and songs were announced on 14 and 17 February 2007, respectively. The running order draw for the competing entries took place on 18 February 2007.
As this was Montenegrin debut, the country had to compete in the semi-final of the 2007 Contest, held on 10 May 2007.
On the night of the semi-final Stevan Faddy performed seventh, following Georgia's entry, "Visionary Dream" by Sopho and preceding Switzerland's DJ Bobo with "Vampires Are Alive". He received 33 points, placing 22nd in a field of 28 songs and failing to qualify for the final night.[5]
