The NIO ET5 is an upcoming compact executive electric sedan to be produced by Chinese electric car company NIO.

Overview[]

The NIO ET5 was unveiled in China on 18 December 2021 at the 'NIO Day' event in Suzhou's Olympic Sports Centre. It will be launched in September 2022 with a starting price of ¥328.000 (~$51,450 USD) and acts as a direct competitor to Tesla's Model 3 sedan[2] and the Xpeng P7.[3]

The interior of the ET5 features a panoramic digital cockpit with AR and VR technology.[4]

Battery specifications[]

The NIO ET5 comes available with three battery options: a 75 kWh battery (NEDC range of 550 km), a 100 kWh battery (NEDC range of 700 km), and a 150 kWh solid-state battery (NEDC range of 1000 km), which has an energy density of 360Wh/kg.

The ET5 has two electric motors, one induction in the front and permanent magnet in the rear of the car, which produce a combined output of 480 hp and 700 Nm.[5] The 0 to 100 km acceleration is 4.3 seconds, the braking distance from 100 to 0 km is 33.9 m (111.2 ft), and the drag coefficient is 0.24.[2]
