Presidential elections are expected to be held in Montenegro in 2023 to elect the President of Montenegro.[1] Previous elections held in 2018 were won by Milo Đukanović, leader of then ruling DPS, with 53.90% of the vote in the first round.[2]

Electoral system[]

The President of Montenegro is elected using the two-round system; if no candidate receives a majority of the vote in the first round, a run-off is held two weeks later.[3] In order to submit their candidacy to the State Electoral Commission, potential candidates need to collect 7,993 signatures.[4] A new president is elected every five years, and only is eligible for two terms.
