Olive Branch is an unincorporated census-designated place in Alexander County, Illinois, United States. It has a post office with the ZIP code 62969.[3] Its population was 864 at the 2010 census.[1]

Demographics[]

As of the census[4][5][6] of 2000, there were 879 people, 389 households, and 314 families residing in the ZCTA. There were 505 housing units. The racial makeup of the ZCTA was 97.38% White, 1.02% Black or African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.23% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.23% of the population.

There were 878 households, out of which 26.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 36.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.80.

The median age was 42.6 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.8 males.

The median income for a household in the ZCTA was $30,833, and the median income for a family was $34,509. Males had a median income of $31,875 versus $25,357 for females. The per capita income for the ZCTA was $23,970. About 9.6% of families and 13.5% of the population were below the poverty line.
