Prospect is a rural locality in the Shire of Banana, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2016 census Prospect had a population of 297 people.[1]

History[]

The mobile library service commenced in 2004.[4]

The provisional school at opened on 2 October 1935 [5] and approval was given in 1944 for the establishment of a State School in prospect Creek to replace the provisional school at Torsdale Farm[6]

Torsdale Farm Provisional School opened on 16 July 1919 as a half-time provisional school in conjunction with Torsdale Station Provisional School (meaning they shared a single teacher). Torsdale Farm Provisional School closed on 31 Dec 1920, but reopened on 2 Oct 1935. On 5 June 1944 it became Prospect Creek State School.[7]

In the 2016 census Prospect had a population of 297 people.[1]

Amenities[]

Banana Shire Council provides a fortnightly mobile library service at Prospect Creek School.[8][9]
