Santurtzi is a station of the Line 2 and the southern terminus of the Mamariga Shuttle of Metro Bilbao. It is located in the municipality of Santurtzi.[2] The station after is Peñota. It opened on 4 July 2009.

The Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network (operated by Renfe) also has a Santurtzi station on its C1 line, but they are not at the same location – there is a distance of about 500 metres (550 yd) between them.

Station layout[]

Peñota station follows the typical cavern-shaped layout of most underground Metro Bilbao stations designed by Norman Foster, with the main hall located directly above the rail tracks.
