Territories of Progress – Social Reformist Movement (French: Territoires de progrès – Mouvement social-réformiste, TDP) is a French political party of the centre-left to centre. It was founded in February 2020 by ministers Jean-Yves Le Drian and Olivier Dussopt. It brings together former elected representatives of the Socialist Party who became stakeholders in the presidential majority of Emmanuel Macron, around the co-founders of the movement. It is headed by the former deputy Gilles Savary.[3]

It currently has 46 Members of Parliament.

Creation[]

The party was created in January 2020 by former elected social democrats, mainly from the Socialist Party.[4] It is officially launched on 1 February 2020, during a meeting in Pantin, in Seine-Saint-Denis, then presented at a press conference on 2 July 2020.[5] Senator Xavier Iacovelli became its Secretary General.[6]

Criticism[]

Speaking to France Inter, First Secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure criticised Territories of Progress, comparing it to "a club of Alcoholics Anonymous" having "betrayed the left".[7]
