The Weekly is an American narrative investigative journalism docuseries that covers recent topical news and cultural stories, and is a television spin-off of the widely successful podcast, The Daily. Produced by The New York Times for FX and Hulu, each episode follows a different breaking news story and the Times journalists who covered it. The series premiered on the FX network on June 2, 2019.[1] More than 30 journalists from The New York Times are scheduled to appear in the first season of The Weekly.[2] Thirty episodes were ordered for the first season.[3]

On May 26, 2020, the series was renewed for a second season, reformatted as a monthly series of longer documentaries under the new name, The New York Times Presents.[4][5] This season is also distributed internationally under the title The Weekly: Special Edition.[6]

Broadcast[]

Each episode of The Weekly streams exclusively on Hulu a day after its FX premiere.[1] Each episode is available to New York Times subscribers in the U.S. five weeks after streaming on Hulu.[7]

Outside the United States, the series is distributed by Red Arrow Studios, parent company of series co-producer Left/Right Productions, and does not usually air on FX's international offshoots.[6]
