The 1998 du Maurier Open men's singles was the men's singles event of the one hundred and ninth edition of the Canadian Open; a tournament and the most prestigious men's tennis tournament held in Canada.

Chris Woodruff was the defending champion, but did not participate this year.

Patrick Rafter won the title, by defeating Richard Krajicek 7–6,(7–3), 6–4 in the final.
