Hanan Pichiwa District is one of eight districts of the Espinar Province in Peru.[1]

Geography[]

One of the highest peaks of the district is Wamanlipani at approximately 4,800 m (15,700 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups[]

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (91.87%) learnt to speak in childhood, 7.88% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
