Belgharia railway station is the railway station in the town of Belgharia. It serves the local areas of Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India. The Madhusudan Banarjee Road connects the Barrackpore Trunk Road and Jessore Road through Belgharia.

History[]

The Sealdah–Kusthia line of the Eastern Bengal Railway was opened to railway traffic in the year 1862.[1] Eastern Bengal Railway used to work only on the eastern side of the Hooghly River.[2]

Station complex[]

The platform is not very well sheltered. It has many facilities including water and sanitation. It is well connected to the BT Road. But there is a proper approach road to this station.[3] The Down Train leaves from platform 2 and 3 and UP trains leaves from Platform 1 and Platform 3. The station is connected with MB Road from Birati side and Feeder Road from BT Road side. The station has two ticket counters one outside platform number 4 and another on platform number 1, there are auto rickshaw stands, E-rickshaw stands outside Platform 1 and Platform 4. All the platforms are connected with subway and foot-over bridge in Dumdum end.

Electrification[]

The Sealdah–Ranaghat sector was electrified in 1963–65.[4]
