Bobigny–Pantin–Raymond Queneau (French pronunciation: [bɔbiɲi pɑ̃tɛ̃ ʁɛmɔ̃ kəno]) is a station on Line 5 of the Paris Métro, located on the border between the communes of Pantin and Bobigny, in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Location[]

The station is located between the Canal de l'Ourcq and the old National Road 3 which is the limit with the towns of Pantin and Romainville. Despite its name, the station serves mainly Pantin (district of Petit-Pantin) and Romainville (district of the Bas-Pays). As for Bobigny, this station serves only a thin industrial fringe. North of the canal are the railway tracks from the Gare de l'Est, including, inter alia, the Technicentre Est Européen. The railway installations and the watercourse prevent any direct connection with the rest of Bobigny, whose communal territory is almost entirely on the other side of the canal; it can be crossed by taking the Pont de la Folie, a little more than a kilometer east of the station.

History[]

The station is open in 1985. The name refers to the communes of Bobigny and Pantin, and to the rue Raymond Queneau. Raymond Queneau, a 20th-century French author and member of the Oulipo group, makes a singularly appropriate name as his most famous works are Zazie dans le métro and Exercices de style, which is set on a bus.

This station saw 2,957,528 travelers enter it in 2018 which places it at the 191st position of the subway stations for its attendance.[1]

Passenger services[]

Access[]

Two accesses lead to the platforms of the metro station. The first entrance, named Avenue Anatole France and located in Pantin, is on a square at the intersection of Avenues Jean-Lolive and Anatole-France. The other entrance called Avenue de Paris (no. 2) is located in Bobigny on the other side of Avenue Jean-Lolive (which takes the name of Rue de Paris).

Platforms[]

It has a single central pier served by stairs leading to a mezzanine and a fire escape at the end of the platform.
