CNN+ (pronounced as CNN Plus) is an upcoming video streaming service that is set to launch on March 29, 2022.[1] It is an offshoot of the CNN cable television news network. The new digital streaming service was announced on July 19, 2021 as "the evolution of video news and the start of a new era for the company".[2] It is competing against free news services such as ABC News Live, CBS News Streaming, NBC News Now, and Newsy.

Origins[]

On July 19, 2021, CNN announced that they will planned an new round-the-clock streaming service, due to launch in the first quarter of 2022. The plan is for the service to offer eight to twelve hours of live programming a day, complemented by original series create just for the service and others culled from the network’s archives as well as an “interactive community” that would allow views to interest with on air talent.[2]

Talent[]

On July 16, 2021, CNN announced that former NBC News correspondent Kasie Hunt will joined the network in September, Kasie is among of the first personalities planned for the streamer, with her untitled daily politics show is among of the new projects; later on March 3, 2022, The Source with Kasie Hunt will be the new title of her show. [3]

On December 12, 2021, it was announced that Scott Galloway, an professor from the New York University will join CNN+ as contributor to its original live programming.[4] Also, Chris Wallace announced that he will join CNN+ after spending 18 years at Fox News as well as serving as the host of Fox News Sunday.[5]

On January 10, 2022, former NPR host Audie Cornish joins CNN+ and plans to launch her interview show 20 Questions with Audie Cornish on the streamer.[6][7]

Also in January 2022, CNN+ announcing additional talent hires including Rex Chapman and Alison Roman.[8][9]

On March 11, 2022, CNN announced that CNN+ would launch on March 29, 2022.[10][11][12]

Pricing[]

On March 3, 2022, CNN announced that the pricing for CNN+ starts at $5.99 a month or $59.99 per year, with new users who sign up in the first four weeks directly with the network will give 50% off their plan for life. Subscribers who carry CNN (which previously include CNNgo) will still get live feeds of its linear channels, along with on-demand content.
