Flag of Silesia

The flag of Silesia and Lower Silesia is a bicolor of silver and gold.[1]

Flag of Lower Silesia Voivodeship

The national flag consists of two horizontal stripes. The colors of the flag refer to the coat of arms of Silesia, so according to the rules of heraldry, the background color gold is at the bottom.

Flag with Silesian eagle

Traditionally the flag of Silesia is also the flag of Lower Silesia, while Upper Silesia has its own flag.

The colors were used together with the coat of arms of the Province of Silesia and with the coat of arms of the Province of Lower Silesia.[2][3]

Adoption in Saxony[]

Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the Constitution of the Free State of Saxony guarantees the Silesian or Lower Silesian flag equality alongside the Saxon state flag.[4][5]

Moravian-Silesian Region[]

Moravian-Silesian Region of Czechia has its own flag. The first quarter shows the eagle of (Lower) Silesia, which also appears in other Silesian arms and in the coat of arms of the Czech Republic. Thus, the design of the coat of arms of the Polish Voivodeship of Lower Silesia is very similar to the one in this flag.[6]

In Poland[]

is a banner of arms and shows the Silesian eagle on a golden background.[7][8]

In the Polish tradition, the Silesian eagle is not crowned (with the exception of Cieszyn Silesia), in the Czech and German generally the opposite.
