Fresh is a 2022 American thriller film directed by Mimi Cave, in her directorial debut, from a screenplay by Lauryn Kahn. It stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan. The film is a co-production between Legendary Pictures and Hyperobject Industries; Adam McKay produced the film alongside Kevin J. Messick and Maeve Cullinane.
Fresh premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2022 and is scheduled to be released on March 4, 2022 on Hulu by Searchlight Pictures.

The horrors of modern dating seen through one young woman's defiant battle to survive her new boyfriend's unusual appetites.

Production[]
In July 2020, it was announced Mimi Cave would direct the film from a screenplay by Lauryn Kahn, with Adam McKay set to serve as a producer under his Hyperobject Industries banner, with Legendary Pictures set to produce.[2] In September 2020, Daisy Edgar-Jones joined the cast of the film.[3] Sebastian Stan was cast in October 2020,[4] and Jonica T. Gibbs was cast in December.[5]
Principal photography took place from February 3 to March 17, 2021, in British Columbia, Canada.[1]

Release[]
Fresh premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2022.[7] In January 2022, ahead of Fresh's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Searchlight Pictures acquired worldwide distribution rights to the film and will release it on Hulu in the United States on March 4, 2022, with a Latin American premiere on Star+ and a Disney+ unveiling in all other territories via Star to later in the spring.[8]
Reception[]
Review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reports that 81% of 43 sampled critics gave the film positive reviews and that it has received an average rating of 7.00/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "As gripping as it is upsetting, Fresh makes a provocative meal out of the horror of modern dating."[9] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 68 out of 100 based on 12 critics, indicating "generally favourable reviews".[10]
