Kvítkov is a village in the Czech Republic. It is located in the Česká Lípa District. As of 2014, there were 240 residents living in the village.[1]

History[]

The first written mention of the village comes from 1295. At that time, the village was owned by Jan of Kvítkov.[2] On 1 December 1991, the municipality was given the legal status as a town.[3]

Agriculture[]

Kvítkov has been known for its fertile soils and agricultural importance. However, the gardens around the village are often neglected and buildings replace them.[4]

Landmarks[]

Church of St. James the Elder[]

The Church of St. James the Elder is a baroque church located in the village. It was built in the 18th century. It has been believed that the architect and builder of the church was .[5]

Kvítkov castle[]

A castle ruin name Kvítkov has been protected as a cultural monument since 1965. No written sources have been preserved about the castle. Few archaeological finds date back to the end of the fourteenth or early fifteenth century, when the village belonged to the Vlků family from Kvítkov.[6]
